INTERSOS is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization that works to bring assistance to people affected by natural disasters and conflicts. Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected. In Somalia INTERSOS is active since 1992 responding to emergencies that involve IDPs and returnees populations as well as the host community. INTERSOS currently operates in Banadir, Bay, Middle Shabelle and Mudug regions of Somalia.

Position overview:

The Entrepreneurship trainer will be responsible for; Provide project beneficiaries for the youth in Baidoa, on knowledge on, identifying business ideas, starting a business, improving and expanding the business.

Main responsibilities:

Ø Facilite daily learning activities of the beneficiaries acording to the agreed ciriculum and lessons plan.

Ø Train beneficiaries to be able to develop concrete, feasible business plan.

Ø Ensuring the beneficiaries can set up a basic business management system, and a standardized processes.

Ø Ensuring the programme benefiaicaries can achieve the business objectives for the growth-oriented entrepreneurship:

Ø Conduct ad hoc assessment for the market surveys and business trends

Ø Support the VTC manger and community liaison supervisors in developing relationship with the business community.

Ø Supervise the businesses established post training and proper use of start-up kits within the center and after distribution.

Ø Support graduate students on how to excel their business in consideration of market competitions and short of funding

Ø Provide update information to VTC management on the progress of graduates’ business

Ø Find relevant business centers willing to provide internship for graduate students in compliance with applied internship policy

Ø Assess business centers providing internship under the following ethics: safety and health, fairness and dignity, business structure and policies in place, and many others in accepted business ethics.

Ø Assist graduate students on how to prepare business plans

Ø Keep update reports & records of internship at VTC with management

Ø To ensure a stable link between the VTC and the business community in order to maximize the impact of the vocational education provided.

Ø Support in conducting impact assessment using individual interviews, focus group discussion, and other survey mechanism

Ø Adhere to INTERSOS Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Data Protection protocols and the regional referral SOPs.

Ø Other duties as required by PM or VTC Supervisor.

Requirement:

Ø Must have diploma/certificate in business administration

Ø Must have experience of minimum 2 years in business support

Ø Must have strong command of English/ Somali

Ø Must be willing to work with policies and ethics of INTEROS

Ø Need to be a Somali citizen.

Ø Knowledge of community resources and referral pathway

Ø Ability and motivation to work well with local authorities, local leaders and local community;

Ø Good cooperation skills, ability to work well independently and in a team;

Ø Good problem solving and social skills and creative, to think of alternative solutions;

Ø Stress-resilient to be able to cope with deadlines and complex problems;

Ø Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills;

Ø Computer literate (Word and Excel) preferred;

Ø Fluency in Somali and English language;

Ø Willing to work extra hours and available at the weekend for emergency cases.
