Since March 2016 INTERSOS has begun its operations in Northern Greece. Office Headquarters are in Thessaloniki and project operations are taking place in the urban area of Thessaloniki and Ioannina along with the site management of Agia Eleni under the ESTIA project funded by UNHCR.

Job Title: Head of Mission/Legal Representative
Country: Greece
Duty Station: Thessaloniki with regular trips to Ioannina
Reports to: INTERSOS Hellas Board
Purpose/objective of the position:
The Head of Mission represents Intersos Hellas in Greece and is responsible for the planning, management and implementation of the country program on the basis of defined strategies and indications.
Management and Programme Quality
Legally and officially represents INTERSOS Hellas in the country – granted with powers conferred by Intersos Hellas Board and acts under its supervision
Specifically:
To establish and manage effective relationships with local Institutions, donors, NGOs, International Agencies and other stakeholders, promoting the good name and image of INTERSOS Hellas in all offices;
To ensure respect for the values, Code of Ethics, Procurement Procedures and Organization Management and Control Model of Intersos Hellas;
To monitor donor’s priorities and intervention strategies in the country;
Responsible for the signature of all contracts and, where necessary delegate other operators. For single, specific and duly motivated circumstances, he/she may sign a proxy to conferred supervision and control powers to operators;
To establish, guarantee and periodically monitor government’s recognition and accreditation procedures and any other formalities required by the Greek Authorities
To ensure personnel compliance with procedures foreseen by INTERSOS Hellas and the Greek Labor Law
To ensure the constant and timely sharing of information with the Program Coordinator, Protection Coordinator, Logistic Coordinator, Finance/HR Coordinator
To define mission’s programming and planning of activities and check for their implementation;
Supervise and approve forecast of expenditure
To be responsible for procurement processes of goods, works and services and relevant conformity to procedures;
To define mission’s economic and financial planning, ensuring economic self-sufficiency and expenditure adherence to budget constraints;
To carry out monthly checks and assessments of the mission’s economic and financial status;
To be responsible for managing the funds and current bank accounts of the mission;
To approve interim and final financial reports and ensure their timely and duly submission to donors in compliance with procedures foreseen;
To ensure that a reporting system is in place and that a monthly report is sent to Intersos HQ
To be responsible for the archive of all documentation relating the mission and the projects;
To be responsible for the management and maintenance of both, INTERSOS and third-party goods, by performing regular checks;
To be responsible for the strict observance and adherence to INTERSOS and donors’ procedures.
To determine the contracts with local personnel and supervise the recruitment of high level qualified professionals;
To determine the communication/information flows and oversee interpersonal relationship dynamics, promoting cohesion and motivation;
To provide the Communication sector of Intersos HQ, regularly or upon request, with news regarding the country, emerging issues and activities developed, working together with the Project Manager and other operators;
To be responsible for security and monitoring the implementation of regulations defined in the protocols attached to the Security Manual.
Requirements and past experience:
Native Greek speaker, professional level of English
Experience in a senior management position of at least 3 years
Degree of higher education mandatory, desirable MBA or equivalent Master’s Degree
Perfect team management skills
Works well under pressure, results driven
Flexibility in working hours and travelling schedules
