Job title: Protection Coordinator
Location: Erbil, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I) with regular visits to Dohuk and possibly to the project locations in Ninewa Governorate.

2. General context of the mission
Since resuming operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in November 2013, INTERSOS has been providing social protection assistance services for conflict-affected civil population, both Syrian refugees and Iraqi IDPs in camp and non-camp settings.
Specifically, in support of the refugees living in camps, INTERSOS has been conducting community mobilization and protection monitoring activities to empower targeted communities, while contextually enhancing access of individuals with specific needs or vulnerabilities to social protection mechanisms.
In the framework of the emergency response to the massive influx of IDPs, INTERSOS has then established three Drop-in Centers with the aim of funneling in a single location services offered by different providers, to create positive synergies and thus be able to promote timely, comprehensive and effective response to the specific needs of the target population.
3. Tasks and responsibilities
The Protection Coordinator is expected to carry out the following specific responsibilities:
· Provide clear technical support, guidance and supervision to the protection staff, including training needed to build specialized skills in Protection Monitoring, Case Management, Legal Assistance, Psycho-Social Support (PSS) and Risk Mitigation;
· According to identified needs and resources available, deliver training, workshops and seminars to national and international staff on protection-related issues;
· Contribute to project planning and reporting documents;
· Promote harmonization of programme approaches and methodologies across the different implementation sites by developing and monitoring use of common tools, as well as creating opportunities for experience sharing and learning;
· Ensure that protection staff and services adhere to case management best practices, as well as international protection standards and principles;
· Contribute to monitoring programme implementation and quality, as well as to collect feedback from beneficiaries;
· Undertake regular field visits to provide technical guidance and supervision, as well as continuously monitor the progress of the case management and referral activities;
· Contribute to the production of high quality donor reports and other materials as required;
· Support the development of new project/programme proposals through technical inputs to and feedback about the project/programme methodology.
4. Required profile/experience
· Education: Master’s Degree in social sciences or related field
· Minimum 3 years relevant working experience in humanitarian project management with INGO, specifically protection projects.
· Proven experience in coordination, case management supervision (CP, SGBV and/or PwSN)
· Demonstrated experience in research and research paper/report development.
· Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and remote management.
· Strong experience in trainings and capacity building and development of local staff and partners in protection related subjects.
· Prior experience in working in complex emergency setting, involving displacement and armed conflict.
· Strong experience in working with communities.
· Fully proficient in written and spoken English.
· Arabic language skills will be considered as an asset.
· Excellent ability to establish inter-personal relations and good negotiation skills.
· Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software.
· Ability to deal with stressful and highly demanding working environment.
