Somalia: PDM PROJECT ASSISTANT

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:

INTERSOS is an independent non-profit humanitarian organization committed to assist the victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts and has been working in South Central Somalia since 1993. Based in Mogadishu Intersos office, the candidate will be involved in coordinating, implementing, monitoring and reporting all of the activities planned for Intersos PDM project in Somalia.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Program Planning and Management

  • Participate in, and facilitate trainings and meetings with project stakeholders
  • Support in designing PDM surveys;
  • Assist in project implementation through facilitation, coordination and supervision of all PDM data collection exercises.
  • Participate in facilitating data entry and data cleaning
  • Assist Project Manager to prepare responses to requests from networks, collaborators and stakeholders and donors, local authorities, and the public regarding program information;
  • Manage individual exercise budgets.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Assist in the verification of data from quarterly/monthly reporting tools (partners and direct implementation) and support its collation and analysis;
  • Assist in conducting project related assessments, surveys and evaluations.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned as from time to time

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, international relations, political science, or related social sciences.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in working in an International non-governmental Organization.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English and Somali, both verbally and in writing;
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and Access and internet use;
  • Prior work experience in Puntland and South Central region of Somalia and familiarity with community strategies, structures and processes as well as willingness to frequently visit these regions;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact successfully with a diverse group of individuals and champion a team spirit;
  • Demonstrable ability to write proposals, reports, and procedures as necessary and design a filing system for storing documents; Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times especially in relation to partner activities
