General context of the project**
The present organizational structure of INTERSOS Programmes department is made of a team of one Director of Programmes, four Regional Directors, four Deputy Regional Directors, two Grants Regional Officer, three Programme Protection Advisors, two Medical Referents and the Emergency Unit.
The Medical referents are part of the Medical unit.
The Medical Unit provides technical and analytical support to the program department and INTERSOS missions in:

  • Developing country/regional medical strategies
  • Approve/validate the technical component of all project proposals containing health and nutrition components.
  • Approve/validate the technical component of all key reports for donors containing health and nutrition components.
  • Ensure the implementation of the standard and/or national protocols
  • Supervise the start-up, progress, and quality of medical activities with regular visits and contacts with on-site technical staff
  • Develop SOP and tools in order to standardize and facilitate field technical work and improve supervision and analysis
  • Representing INTERSOS at the international H&N fora
  • Participate in the recruitment process of medical expat personnel and the evaluation / development of expat / national staff
  • Provide technical support to other department and other dossier
    General purpose of the position
    The internship will be carried out between HQ (remote) and one of INTERSOS missions.
    During the HQ part, the intern will work alongside the Head of Medical Unit, whereas while in the field he/she will shadow the work of a Medical Coordinator.
    The mentoring provided by the Medical team aims to:

  • Familiarize with the dynamics of the medical unit and operational documents

  • Provide an understanding of the project cycle

  • Improve analytical skills on medical-humanitarian challenges

  • Ameliorate the understanding of health and nutritional issues and challenges in different contexts
    Main responsibilities and tasks
    On a daily basis the intern is going to:

  • Support to medical coordinators in compiling sitrep and data collection

  • Support of medical coordinators in the use of DHIS2

  • Support on the integration and implementation of the SoP Management and Distribution of Pharmaceutical Items, Consumables and Medical Equipment

  • Support in the development of SOPs, tools and guidelines

  • Participate in sector meetings at the request of the supervisor

  • Support in other possible dossiers assigned by the supervisor**Required profile and experience**
    Education
    Medical degree / bachelor’s degree in nursing; Master degree in global health or related courses will be considered a plus

Professional Experience
Volunteer work, with NGOs or in developing countries will be considered a plus.

Professional Requirements
Confident in using IT tools
Good writing skills

Languages
English mandatory
French and Spanish are an added value
