2.General context of the project

INTERSOS started it intervention in Eastern Equatoria since 2016 responding to vulnerable IDPs through provision of NFI and WASH response. As part of the INTERSOS strategy for South Sudan, health and nutrition sectors has been included into the country program, in other to offer a full package of assistance for its people of concern, through the provision of primary health care services, reproductive health, community mobilization and education, outbreak response and nutrition treatment (SAM and MAM), with a strong community integration in all phases of project cycle. This project will Strengthening the facility based and outreach CMAM for SAM cases integrating IYCF and basic WASH in Ikotos and surrounding villages, in Ikotos County, Eastern Equatoria State.

3.General purpose of the position

The Medical Coordinator will lead the identification, design, implementation and monitoring of health and nutrition interventions according the INTERSOS country strategy and the needs, and representing the organization in all technical relations with authorities, donors and the community. The position holder will be based Juba with frequent travel to the field locations.

4.Tasks and responsibilities

· Develop new projects proposals

· Organize and report on assessments, monitoring and evaluation for health and nutrition intervention

· Ensure coherence, structure, quality assurance, cost-effectiveness and capacity development for the sector program and the national teams

· Setting project targets and supervise the project teams ensuring planning, implementation, and monitoring

· Monitor the financial management of the projects, in compliance with INTERSOS’ model and donor regulations

· Supervise the delivery of quality project activities reporting, including the findings in terms of impact/changes at the level of beneficiaries achieved through the project

· Attend the sector meetings and represent INTERSOS at central level in sectorial meetings, ensuring linkage for sub-region and national level meetings

· Contribute to the development of INTERSOS health and nutrition strategy in the country, ensuring its consistency with the national and international standardized protocols, policies and guidelines

· Supervise the management of all the medical and nutrition interventions in the country and supervise the supply chain and storing of medical items

· Ensure accurate data collection and reporting are submitted in a timely manner for all activities within the program, set up corrective measures in case of need

· Work with health and nutrition teams and logistic department to procure and pre-position drugs in a timely manner to ensure adequate supply at the intervention sites

· Ensure the supervision of pharmacy (consumption, orders, and inventory) in collaboration with the pharmacist and link to the logistic department

· Follow up on context and medical-nutrition trend analysis and sharing of key information with HOM, and with health-nutrition referent at HQ

· Provide relevant capacity building and on-job coaching to the project team(junior national Health-Nutrition PMs)

· Ensure PMs are delivering monthly timely, complete and qualitative a comprehensive project reporting (PAT – project appraisal tool) to the health-nutrition and program referent and the HoM

· Perform any other related duties as required.

5.Required profile/experience

· Advanced University degree in in medicine, public health, or related field;

· At least 5 years of professional experience working as a technical coordinator in the area of primary health care, nutrition or a related field;

· Minimum 2 years of experience in implementation of health and nutrition programming in complex emergency settings, involving displacement

· Experience with donor compliance and reporting, experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with donors and government counterparts

· Demonstrated experience in coordination, staff supervision, remote management and use of monitoring tools and systems

· Readiness and ability to travel around South Sudan according the need of the project Ability to adhere to deadlines and respect line management

· Excellent computer skills (proven computer literacy, in particular Excel knowledge is a must)

· Fully proficiency in written and spoken English

· Admin/finance skills, strong representation, negotiation communication and diplomatic skills

· Observation and analysis capacity, ability to work in stressful environments with heavy work pressure

· Strong team spirit, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment
