General context of the project
INTERSOS is an International Humanitarian Organisation with its HQ in Rome, branch offices in Dakar,Nairobi and Amman and representation offices in Geneva. The organisational structure comprises the General Secretariat, the Departments of Programmes, Finance, Logistics & Supply, Communications & Fundraising and Human Resources, the Grants Control & Compliance Unit and the office of Internal Auditor. INTERSOS is operational in 23 countries with over 3,000 among national and international staff worldwide.

In recent years INTERSOS, the largest Italian humanitarian organization, has faced significant changes in terms of rising challenges, adopted structure, contexts to work. In this framework, the Finance Department must redefine itself to effectively respond to the new demanding issues and assure control over specific strategic processes to guarantee the overall organization and its sustainability.
General purpose of the position
The purpose of the internship is to provide assistance to the Regional Finance Coordinator, being able and autonomous in checking monthly reconciliations, financial reports and in exporting accountancy to INTERSOS database (NPW). At the end of this internship experience, the intern should have learned how to assist the figure of a Country Finance Coordinator autonomously.
Main responsibilities and tasks
Under the supervision of the Regional Finance Coordinator, the intern will work on:
- Archive management (including INTERSOS internal management platform) and documents compliance;
- project budgeting and financial reporting;
- journal, including cash/bank reconciliation and receivables/payables;
- balance control;
- mission forecast and cost recovery tool to guarantee the economic sustainability of the missions
- NPW database - accounting software
Required profile and experience
Education
Scientific university degree (preferably economics and b&a)
Professional Experience
No previous experience is mandatory

Languages
English and/or French.
