2. General context of the project
INTERSOS had been working in Iraq from 2003 till 2010 with programs aimed at responding to urgent material safety needs and enhancing access to basic social services for vulnerable individuals and communities in Central and Southern Iraq, Baghdad and Kurdistan. Over the years, INTERSOS operations developed encompassing activities in health care, legal protection and assistance, warehousing and distribution of essential goods, mine/UXO clearance, shelter, water and sanitation, psychosocial support and education targeting internally displaced people and voluntary returnees, as well as host communities, with special focus on most vulnerable groups (children, women, elderly and persons with special needs).INTERSOS is currently implementing more than 6 projects in Ninewa and Salah al-Din Governorates, concentrating in health, NFIs and shelter, protection and education interventions.
3. General purpose of the position
The Finance Assistant will support the administrative department and will work toghter with the Country Finance Coordinator
4. Main responsibilities and tasks
Updating IMP with Projects
Bank Reconciliation
Checking timesheets of expats
Assisting in preparation for the audit (checking of the documents in terms of compliance with donor regulations)
Assisting in recording transaction in the Prima Nota
Preparation of LOE and Covers for the audits and spot checks.
Preparation of the checks.
In addition to the above mentioned, there could be other tasks rose up during the work.
5. Required profile and experience
Education
Advanced university degree from a recognized academic institution in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Finance Management, Business Administration, Management, International Economics, International Development, Contract/Commercial Law.
Professional experience
Minimum of 1.5 years of relevant work experience at national and international level working as admin-finance officer, also in humanitarian field locations
Professional requirements
Fair knowledge of the international donors - mainly UN, AICS and OFDA systems
Attention to details and ability to take initiative and work autonomously
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with analytic approach
Excellent communication skills
Strong knowledge in computer (MS Office package, internet, e-mail, etc.)
Ability to work in austere and hostile environments
Has a valid International driving license is a plus
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
Personal requirements
Fast learner, adapts and responds to change - Proven experience working in multicultural contexts, and ability to build and maintain collaborative relationship
Ability to perform and assure high accuracy in work under stress
Positive and solution oriented personality
Commitment and Respect of local culture
