Coordination with: Remote Demographic Mapping Consultant
Supervision of: Field enumerators
2.General purpose of the appointment
To design a methodology and implement data collection to produce an interactive mapping tool of mixed migration communities in selected districts of Amman, according to the project specifications provided.
3.Main responsibilities and tasks
The technical consultant for the urban mapping project will be responsible for
· Design of the mapping methodology and data model including 1) demographic dispersal of migrant groups (refugees, asylum seekers, migrant workers, stateless, irregular migrants, etc.), in coordination with the Remote Demographic Mapping Consultant 2) migrant service mapping (education, health, protection, legal) and 3) protection profiling of migrant communities
· Training of enumerators for data collection during three-day workshop
· Coordination of data collection including:
a) Guidance on coordination with local administration
b) Preparation of relevant field data collection tools (Tasking Manager, MapCampaigner, Field Papers, ODK Collect, POSM, etc.)
c) Strategic organization and subdividing of the area to be mapped, then guiding the enumerators during data collection
· Field data cleaning and uploading to server
· Visualisation of data into interactive tool using Mapbox platform
· Managing protection-sensitive data:
a) Compliance with Personal Data protection standards - taking into account the specific scope and purpose of the data
b) Creating a code of conduct and operational procedures for the ethical and principled use of the information collected - especially personal data. When collecting data and creating maps organizations must ensure data security for vulnerable populations.
c) Ensure that static or online/interactive maps anonymize any personal data
4.Minimum requirements
• To have in-depth technical mapping capacities, using Mapbox, OpenStreetMap or other platforms
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Fluency in English
Desirable
• To have experience conducting community mapping projects
• To have a knowledge of the Middle East mixed migration context
• Knowledge of Arabic an asset
5.Coordination
The In-Situ Technical Consultant will report to the INTERSOS Regional Mixed Migration Analyst at the Mixed Migration Centre, in order to provide regular progress updates on the methodology development, implementation of data collection and finalisation of the mapping tool.
The In-Situ Technical Consultant will also coordinate with the Remote Demographic Mapping Consultant, in order to effectively design the demographic component of the mapping methodology. The In-Situ Consultant will organise regular calls with the Remote Demographic Mapping Consultant to provide updates and receive input and guidance on the design, implementation and collating results to finalise the tool.
6.Deliverable timeline
26th October: Delivery of mapping methodology, data model and workplan and updates on coordination with remote demographic mapping specialist
2nd November: Delivery of training materials and workplan
22nd November: Delivery of data collection update report
29th November: Delivery of tool
