2. Job description
A. General context of the project
General context of the project
The project will strengthen integrated protection services for the drought and conflict affected IDPs through prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV), and mitigation of child protection risks in Wajid, Xudur and Balad Districts. Protection needs of the most vulnerable IDPs and conflict affected people are identified through effective protection monitoring, reporting and response; quality evidence based reports about protection issues and human rights violations are ensured and produced to inform better response and advocacy.
B. General purpose of the position, responsibilities and tasks
General purpose of the position
Within the scope of INTERSOS Protection projects, the PIM Officer will be responsible for the supervision of the protection data collection, entry, and management activities, including formatting, creating and properly storing hard and soft-copies, data forms and data bases. The PIM Officer will also be responsible for the analysis of the collected protection data and the drafting of relevant reports, under the supervision of the Protection Manager.
Main responsibilities and tasks
Program Development and Management
· Ensure the collection of Protection data in line with the PIM process, and the sensitive data management standards
· Ensure the safe protection data management (create and maintain confidential data bases, manage hard copies in Baidoa and field offices)
· Create and maintain relevant data bases and information management systems for the Protection activities
· Create and maintain adequate information collection systems, in cooperation with the Protection PM.
· Analyze the collected data and identify critical protection trends in areas of operation
· Provide training to INTERSOS Protection staff in how to access and use the databases and information management tools as required.
· Ensure high standard of data protection and confidentiality of beneficiaries and of the staff involved in data collection.
· Contribute to relevant protection reports and evidence-based advocacy notes (Protection Monitoring reports, targeted advocacy notes etc.)
3. Position requirements
Education
· University degree, preferably in Computer Science, IT or other relevant technical field.
Professional experience
· At least 2 years hands on experience in data entry, data analysis, and quantitative and narrative report preparation
· Good software engineering (programming/coding) skills, including knowledge of MySQL and experience designing online-based information management systems/tools.
· Advanced knowledge of Excel, ability to design Excel based information management tools and produce user-friendly reports and analysis.
· Knowledge of and experience working with the KOBO and ODK Platform is desirable.
· Ability to clearly express one's thoughts, to analyse and present information clearly and concisely.
· Ability to set priorities and show initiative, to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills. Positive, solution oriented attitude
Professional requirements
· 2 years hands on experience in data entry, data analysis, and quantitative and narrative report preparation
· Excellent communication skills (oral and writing)
· Professional fluency in English and Somali
· Knowledge of the protection activities
· Previous experience with Protection Information Management / knowledge of the PIM Process
Languages
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali is essential;
