2. Job description
A. General context of the project
General context of the project
Provision of Nutrition Services Integrated with Routine vaccination, focused on Children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) living in Jowhar districts of Middle Shabelle and Diinsoor district of Bay, Somalia.
B. General purpose of the position, responsibilities and tasks
General purpose of the position
INTERSOS is planning to support the drought affected population and communities in Jowhar of Middle Shabelle and Diinsoor District of Bay region with the provision of Nutrition Services Integrated with Routine vaccination, focused on Children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) through one MCH and one mobile clinic team; referral health services and health promotion activities.
Main responsibilities and tasks
· Support the mission, vision, and core values of INTERSOS
· Promoting hygiene and nutrition sensitization activities at target areas of Diinsoor district
· Conduct wash awareness campaign at community level in the targeted areas
· Implement distribution of hygiene kits and supervise construction of wash facilities providing by INTERSOS
· Support in any other tasks requested by your immediate supervisor or Project Manager
· Maintain standard infection control at your station
· Maintain and protect all equipment under your custody for your daily activities
· Keep effective communication within INTERSOS health staff
· Provide hygiene promotion and community awareness sessions to prevent AWD/Cholera outbreak
· Carry out any other additional duties assigned by your supervisor as may be required.
· Following and completing assignments as given by the Project Manager;
· Monitoring inventory and notifying appropriate individuals when supplies are needed;
· Collaborate with CHWs and other INTERSOS personnel to monitor outbreaks and other health indicators in remote areas;
3. Position requirements
Education
- Education- Secondary level, or any other relevant certificate of WASH education
Professional experience
- At least 1-year previous experience working on wash and/or education programs
- Previous work experience with INGOs/LNGOs or government authorities in Somalia in sector related to Protection/Education/Emergency
Professional requirements
- Demonstrable understanding of medical ethics and nursing practices.
- Good problem solving and social skills and creative, to think of alternative solutions;
Languages
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
Personal requirements
- Ability to go within district (all the remote areas)
- Ability to work independently self-motivated and organizes its own time and work independently.
- Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions
- Competent to work under stress as the situation may dictate.
- Somali national, able to work in Diinsoor district, Bay Region of Southwest State of Somalia.
