Position overview:
The GBV Capacity Building Officer will be responsible for building the capacity of GBV WG in psychological first aid to survivors and strengthening safe referrals, and other child protection and GBV training for various stakeholders, strengthening the community-based approach and mainstreaming protection, gender, age and diversity.
Main responsibilities:
- Undertake capacity building for clan, religious, and other opinion leaders on GBV prevention by Strengthening GBV Prevention through empowerment of community leadership structures in different locations in South and Central Somalia.
- Building the capacity of GBV WG members on Psychological first aid using the global PFA training package
- Support the capacity development of the case workers, community-based social workers and GBV and CP officers including ensuring adherence to INTERSOS and Global GBV Minimum Standards on GBV and case management;
- Supporting WOCCA in conducting training targeting community focal points and formal and informal authorities on GBV mainstreaming to support community-based prevention of GBV, identification of cases and referral mechanisms;
-Prepare timely and accurate weekly and monthly reports submitted to the project manager for review and feedback. - Ensure smooth communication and coordination between the INTERSOS GBV team.
- Act as the main point of contact INTERSOS GBV project activities in Mogadishu.
- Be an active participant at the GBV/CP WGs as well as at the Protection cluster meeting held in Mogadishu on monthly basis.
- Maintain good working relations with the formal and informal authorities in the target areas
- Coordinate and collaborate with the other relevant actor as needed;
- Ensure proper accountability documentation and undertaking project compliance.
- Ensure all training have pre and post test and evaluation, reports and accountability documentation are completed in a timely manner;
- Support the functioning of a community-based complaints mechanism and safe and confidential system on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse;
- Develop success case studies, human interest stories and identification and documentation of good practices among the GBV and CP team and collection of most significant change stories from the community;
- Conduct regular project monitoring and evaluation including facilitating service user feedback, Asses and follow up the impact of capacity building opportunities and document success, Lesson learned and area of future improvement.
- Report immediately any breaches in data protection, code of conduct and other issues that will affect accountability, INTERSOS reputation and achievement of project outputs and outcomes;
- Any other task assigned by the supervisor
Person specification:
- Bachelor degree in Psychology or any other relevant Social Science degree and/or equivalent practical field experience with another organization working in Somalia;
- Minimum of years’ experience of building capacity on GBV with International and national organizations and government authorities;
- Experience in GBV and CP in emergencies is highly preferred.
- Ability and motivation to work well with local authorities, local leaders and local community;
- Good cooperation skills and ability to work in a team;
- Good problem solving and social skills. Creative, to think of alternative solutions;
- Stress-resilient to be able to cope with deadlines and complex problems;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills;
- Computer literate (word, excel and access);
- Strong report writing skills
- Fluency in English and Somali;
- Willing to work extra hours
