Purpose/objective of the position:
The Protection Officer – Education is responsible for ensuring PoCs access to Educational Activities, through the facilitation of access to organised activities and as necessary through direct implementation of activities. He/she is responsible for gathering and mapping existing initiatives and spreading information, so as to familiarise PoCs with the various opportunities and services available and providing the right information to the Protection team. All the aforementioned will be organised and delivered within the overall MHPSS strategy of INTERSOS. He/she is expected to be honest and transparent and keep the necessary level of confidentiality on information acquired on the job.
Management and Programme Quality
Operate within a rights-based approach and ensure that all activities done are within a protection centred environment
Ensure smooth coordination between Education activities delivered by INTERSOS and those of other actors
Monitor the relations between staff and service providers of Education activities.
Oversee dissemination of information and outreach for activities to PoCs e.g. transport, activity plans and as required disseminate to staff
Monitoring and Reporting
Provide regular progress reports to Protection Manager/Protection Coordinator and other focal points where required
Provide necessary data as requested so as to facilitate external reporting in relation to the population hosted in Ioannina, with a focus on clarifying needs, identifying gaps and planning way forward for support to service providers
Compile requested reports for internal and donor use
Compile weekly/monthly data reporting for donors or as often is requested
External Relations
Maintain relations with coordination mechanisms of Education activities
Maintain relations with relevant focal points in relation to the management of pertinent processes.
Oversee the maintaining of day to day relations with the service providers particularly activity providers.
Other
In the light of the high number of children hosted the Protection Officer - Education is also designated as the education focal point so as to ensure smooth liaison activities between INTERSOS, PoCs and education institutions. He/she supports the collection of data and sharing as requested and required by the state education services. He/she ensures that the services planned and guaranteed by the state under their responsibility are supported and held accountable through regular contact and information
Perform other tasks and duties as required in order to ensure a correct implementation of project activities
Reporting Requirements
As per main duties outlined above the Protection Officer - Education is responsible for:
Reports to Protection Manager and Protection Coordinator with agreed frequency
Collecting lists of participations to activities
Provide Operational reports as necessary
Past Experience and Skills Required:
Degree in Education is mandatory
Previous similar working experience will be an asset
Very good organizational and communication skills
Native Greek speaker, fluent in English both written and verbal
