General Description
INTERSOS is a humanitarian organization on the front-line of emergencies, bringing assistance to people in need with particular attention to the protection of the most vulnerable people.
Since 1992 our humanitarian workers have been helping people affected by humanitarian crises: we provide first aid, food, shelter, medical assistance and basic goods. We ensure that basic needs, as education, access to clean water and health assistance, are met. Following the conflict in the Afghanistan and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation which negatively affects also neighboring countries, in December 2021 INTERSOS got its approval to start supporting Afghan Refugees in Iran to contribute towards ensuring emergency relief and social protection assistance for the Afghan refugees fleeing their home in search of safety.
Main Purpose
The purpose of the officer position is day to day implementation of the Support function responsibilities to achieve quality support function in Iran. The Finance Officer will support all finance activities under supervision of Head of Mission in Tehran.
Duty station: Tehran (Country Office) with estimated 30% travel to the field
Contract duration: 6 months with possibility of extension

Hierarchical: Country Finance Coordinator
Functional: Country Finance Coordinator
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Assist with the implementation of the Finance Department portfolio according to plan of action
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by management (Head Office) and to share them with the Regional Finance Coordinator for verification;
• Finance control: to assume responsibility for cash account handing in Tunisi and to prepare bank payments. Accounting with basic reconciliations (cash/bank) to be available by the 5th of the next month. Update the economic and financial status of the Projects of the missions, on a monthly base.
• Ensure proper filing of documents
• To prepare and carry out the audits conducted in the country in coordination with other relevant departments and CFC
• To regularly check, in collaboration with the Project Managers, the economic-financial performance of projects: final balance, expenditure excess, expenditure projections, and financial forecast. Ideally on a weekly base.
• To monitors the sustainability of coordination's office and verify the correct distribution/allocation of the general coordination costs to the projects.
• Promote and share ideas for improvement of the Finance Department
• Financial verification of contracts, payment requests and purchase requisitions up to the authorized threshold and payment preparation
• Contribute to development of internal finance procedures, SOPs, guidelines and provision of financial trainings for other staff
• Assist with budget development, budget monitoring and financial reporting for expenses
Requirements
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Essential secondary education and technical diploma or technical university degree in finanace, business administration or related field
• Ability to conduct multitasks and function independently
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Good knowledge of English, written and spoken; Fluent Farsi written and spoken
• Experience in working with Government and familiarity with the environment of INGOs and Local NGOs in Iran
• Ability to work under pressure, independently, and with limited supervision
• Strong ability to provide high quality professional reports and letters in English and Farsi within short deadlines
• Computer proficiency including MS office (word, excel)
