2.Context
The situation of the refugees in Greek after 18th March 2016 EU summit decision together with the ‘de facto’ closure of the border between Greece and FYROM is very volatile and extremely unpredictable because of international and internal political evolution in Europe, in the Country, and as well along the Western Balkans route. More than 60.000 Refugees are currently stranded in the country, despite their plans to proceed further.
INTERSOS has been operational since February 2016 in Greece and now it is concentrated in areas of Thessaloniki in Central Macedonia, with projects in support of joint programmes of collaboration among Greek CBOs and Refugees hosted in Central Macedonian Sites and in the support to UNHCR for operations of hosting refugees entered in the official relocation programme in the newly constructed Ioannina-Agia Eleni site, in Epirus region.
In this last site is mainly concentrated the position in object that is dedicated to a daily and pretty flexible accomplishment of list of logistic needs typical of a starting up phase together with the capacity to coordinate and run a dedicated team of extremely experienced and skilled Greek staff.
3.Tasks and responsibilities
General Coordination of the overall logistic activities of the mission in support and in close collaboration with the logistic project staff:
· Make sure vehicles management procedures are implemented and respected;
· Supervise maintenance/construction work inside accommodation facilities;
· Drafting supply/service/renting/ contracts,
· Keep track of all goods movement and collaborate in keeping an updated inventory in electronic and paper format for Office, Community services and Field Sites;
· Continuously monitor and updates the Procurement Tracker;
· Continuously assess the market for new procurement opportunities;
· Assist the international project manager with the development, monitoring and review of procurement plans;
· Ensure that Supplier database is always updated and maintained;
· Ensure cost effective, quality, timely purchasing and delivery of program supplies to the INTERSOS drop in centres and mobile services by smart buses;
· Assure that assets are properly tracked and assigned to staff; perform periodic check of conditions of equipment;
· Ensure that systems for regular maintenance or repair are implemented for INTERSOS equipment and that routine maintenance and repair of communication and office equipment (computer, printers, phones, power generators, etc.) is carried out per schedule or when needed and tracked;
· Assure Logistic Support in the event an emergency occurs, adhere and respect safety and security policies for INTERSOS;
· When necessary install a dialogue with local representatives of Intersos Donors also and eventually in representation of Intersos on mandate of Head of Mission;
· Perform any other task not here listed if necessary to the projects achievement.
4.Required profile/experience
· At least 2 years of previous experience in logistic operations management in international contexts. More considered if related to refugees crisis
· Knowledge of financial basic management aspects is an asset
· Teamwork, intercultural sensitivity, flexibility
· Advanced knowledge of English is mandatory
· Knowledge of Greek is an asset
· Knowledge of Italian is an asset
· Valid residence and work permit for Greece is mandatory
· European Driving licence B
