2. General context of the project
The project is a multi-sectoral integrated nutrition/WASH/livelihood project which takes place in 3 districts in Herat Province. The project is to be implemented in consortium with GVC which will be responsible for the livelihood component. INTERSOS is the leader of the consortium and is responsible for the implementation of the nutrition and WASH components.
The project aims at delivering IMAM and CMAM services in the target locations and to support a local partner in fulfilling the national protocols for Nutrition. Trainings and sensitization activities are included.
3. Tasks and responsibilities
The Project Manager of the Italian Cooperation funded project will be responsible to ensure the proper and smooth implementation of the activities to be carried out in 3 districts in Herat Province.
Moreover, the position will ensure the emergency strategic program development in accordance with the humanitarian needs identified as well as financial opportunities to be raised in the frame of INTERSOS’s mandate and expertise:
Regularly follow up humanitarian needs, donors strategies, financing opportunities in the country linked with the emergency and future recovery phase;
Develop new operational strategy for the organization based on above analysis;
Conduct assessment missions and report on findings;
Identify funding opportunity and ensure proposal writing;
Revitalize INTERSOS participation to relevant forum at country-level and ensure proper coordination;
Applies program quality standards to project design
Maintain contact with Donor Agencies, the UN cluster system, and other NGOs to ensure that interventions are coordinated with those of other agencies and meet local requirements
4. Required profile/experience
· Relevant degree on humanitarian studies or equivalent experience;
· Experience in exploratory missions and needs assessments;
· Advanced knowledge of the main humanitarian donors;
· At least 5 years in similar positions;
· Communication and representation skills;
· Managerial skills;
· Strong strategic vision skills;
· Ability to take initiative and work autonomously;
· Excellent oral and written communication skills;
· Fluent English written and spoken;
· Capacity to work in volatile security environment and to adapt to basic living conditions;
· Knowledge of the context a plus.
