2. Job description
A. General context of the project
General context of the project
Contribute to a protective environment for children from unlawful recruitment and use of children by and to successfully reintegrate children and youths associated with armed forces/groups (CAAFAG) into communities in fulfilment of their fundamental rights.
B. General purpose of the position, responsibilities and tasks
General purpose of the position
The VTC teachers are responsible to provide specific technical education to the students enrolled in the newly established course of study on either tie and dye or beauty salon. The course aims to provide the graduates basic knowledge about either practical tie and dye or beauty salon.
Main responsibilities and tasks
• Develop and revise training materials and curriculum including setting minimum educational requirements for students on tie and dye or beauty salon course (for 6 months duration including work placement) with the VTC Manager;
• The trainer will be in charge of delivering educational activities in the INTERSOS-operated VTC within Baidoa District;
• Conduct vocational training course on use and maintain basic tools and equipment, including safety requirements and procedures for their use;
• Train students on how to set-up, manage tie and dye business or a beauty salon;
• Train students on how to relate to consumers or employers, performing or ensuring proper business etiquette;
• Provide training and support to understand technical manuals, identify faulty equipment and to be self-reliant in workshop and resolve problems;
• Train students how to conduct workflow analysis, designs, cost estimation and cost or product comparison analysis.
• Supervise and coordinate students engaged in local context problem-solving;
• Conduct regular revision and tests to measure student’s progress, and ensure monitoring students’ capacities;
• Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on tools and equipment used during training and report immediately any major problems or defective products and discontinue use until they have passed safety check;
• Adhere to INTERSOS child protection and PSEA policies
3. Position requirements
Education
Post-secondary education in Labour Management, Business, or HR from a recognized institution or five years of non-profit related work experience or equivalent qualification and experience, and minimum secondary certificate
Professional experience
· Previous experience in the humanitarian field in an emergency context working for an NGO, preferably in the protection sector in Somalia (Child protection and/or GBV);
Professional requirements
· Experience in working with vulnerable community members especially children and women.
· Good analytical and report writing skills is desirable
Languages
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali (Maay-Maay) is essential;
